Škoda Genuine Oil in Edinburgh, Dunfermline and Stirling

Škoda recommends Genuine Oil for every model in the range. Find out why it matters, how to check your level and where to get a top-up bottle at West End Garage.

Škoda Genuine Oil change during a service at West End Garage Škoda

Quick answer: Škoda Genuine Oil is engineered specifically for Škoda engines – a thinner-viscosity oil made from gas-to-liquid (GTL) base oil with far fewer impurities than crude-based oils. West End Garage uses it in every Škoda service at Edinburgh, Dunfermline and Stirling, and 1-litre top-up bottles are available from our parts counters.

Why Škoda recommends Genuine Oil

Modern Škoda engines – from the 1.0 TSI in the Fabia to the 2.0 TDI in the Kodiaq and the plug-in hybrid Superb and Octavia iV – run tighter tolerances, higher temperatures and longer intervals than older engines. Škoda Genuine Oil is formulated to those exact demands and meets the approvals and recommendations for the entire Škoda range.

Thinner viscosity

Reduces internal friction, so the engine turns more freely, warms up faster and protects itself under hard driving.

Gas-to-liquid base oil

Made by converting natural gas into base oil, with very few of the impurities found in crude. Better viscosity stability, friction and volatility performance.

Designed for Škoda

Matches the manufacturer specification for your engine, so emissions systems, turbochargers and start-stop components get the protection they were designed around.

1 in 3 cars needs an oil top-up – does yours?

Škoda UK's own figure: one car in three arrives at a retailer needing oil. Low oil, or topping up with the wrong grade, can cause expensive engine damage – so check the level regularly, and never wait for the oil warning light, as by then it can already be too late.

How to check your Škoda's oil level

  • Park on level ground and let the engine cool for a few minutes.
  • On models with a dipstick, pull it out, wipe, re-insert fully and read the level between the MIN and MAX marks.
  • On newer models without a dipstick, use the oil-level display in the infotainment system (Vehicle > Service > Oil level).
  • Top up a little at a time with the correct Genuine Oil grade and re-check – don't overfill.
  • Not sure which grade? Your owner's manual lists it, or call your West End Garage parts counter with your registration.

Škoda Genuine Oil FAQs

What oil does my Škoda need?
It depends on the engine and model year. Most current Škoda petrol and diesel engines use a low-viscosity long-life specification; the exact grade is printed in your owner's manual and on the oil-filler cap. West End Garage's parts teams in Edinburgh, Dunfermline and Stirling can confirm it from your registration.
Can I use a cheaper supermarket oil instead?
Only if it carries the exact Škoda/Volkswagen Group approval for your engine. Using the wrong specification can affect emissions equipment, increase wear and, in a warranty claim, may count against you. Genuine Oil removes the guesswork.
How often should I check my oil level?
Every couple of weeks and before any long journey. Škoda says one in three cars seen by retailers needs a top-up, and the warning light comes on late.
Is Genuine Oil used in electric Škodas?
Fully electric models such as the Enyaq, Elroq, Epiq and Peaq have no engine oil. Plug-in hybrids (Superb iV, Octavia iV, Kodiaq iV) do, and use Genuine Oil like any petrol engine.
Where can I buy Škoda Genuine Oil near me?
From the parts counter at West End Garage Škoda Edinburgh (Sighthill), Dunfermline (Halbeath) or Stirling (Forthside Way), or ask when you book a service.
Does an oil change come with every service?
Yes – an engine oil and filter change with Genuine Oil is part of every fixed-price Škoda Service and Maintenance at West End Garage.
